2017
It was the year where it all began. Darren Yap, the owner of Proaktif Media Sdn Bhd, chanced upon a meeting with a businessman who was looking to sell his machines as he was looking forward to retirement. Darren was not sure of what to make of the laser engraving wood veneer machines the businessman was offering to sell but Darren he knew it was an opportunity to get into a business that intrigued and excited him. He bought the machines. The businessman also gave him the designs to various other art pieces that he had created in his long and storied career. And knowing that the business would not flourish without an expert’s hands, Darren he hired the operator of the machines to continue doing what he was good at. Things fell into place.
Pro Art was set up and as is often said, fortune favours the brave. And indeed it did because Pro Art was commissioned to produce laser engraved wood veneer souvenirs for the 2017 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) that was held in Kuala Lumpur a few months later. The Games turned out to be a huge success and so were the souvenirs. And that brings us to now. Two years on Pro Art is now a thriving business making more than just souvenirs. We have increased the number of machines and workers making us the largest laser wood veneer factory.
We are now making art pieces for homes, buildings and offices. Decorative art such as murals and frontispiece, Arabic Calligraphy, and corporate gifts. We offer educational tours of the factory to the young and old to learn about wood, ecology and the environment. And we offer classes to anyone interested in the art of laser wood cutting.
What we give our customers is the opportunity to design their own pieces: 2D, 3D, lampshades, packaging, art. You design. We create. Pro Art is Brand of Proaktif Media Sdn Bhd. Proaktif Media Sdn Bhd specialises in advertising and the production of promotional material. Proaktif Media Sdn Bhd was set up in 2006.
